“The Mystique” World Premiere

The Mystique is a deep love story spanning three generations that all live in intense isloation. While blurring fantasy with reality, the characters are able to connect through one thing, the power of belief.
 
This is a short film I shot in Michigan a couple of summers ago. It was an experiment really, the concept I came up with was meant for a feature film. I wanted to see how far I could get with very little resources and time. We shot 21 pages in less than 30 hours in 4 different locations all 40 minutes apart. I think it was 3 or 4 of us in the crew total. It was 100 degree weather and I had everyone (including myself) wearing heavy Fall clothing! Thank you to everyone who came together for this project, it was a very special time. Thank you very much to Rik for being there for me through the "talkie stick" everyday! I was thinking about re editing it in this strange way, but it is what it is and some people have seen the potential as it was an Official Selection in the NY and LA Film Festivals last year!

In my mind it is more of a fantastical movie, unfortunately we did not have resources to shoot it that way. If we did, it may have resembled a Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Terry Gilliam movie! (wink,wink). The dialogue is shakey, among a million other things. Just open our mind, your heart, and try to fall into THE MYSTIQUE!
